Our Eyecare Kits and Eyewash Stations

Our eye first aid kit and eyewash stations are ergonomically designed to help you deliver first aid in an emergency when you’re stressed and even visually impaired.

We design our eyewash stations to be easy to spot, with grabbable eyewash bottles that can be quickly opened and used at a range of angles. Our 20ml eyewash pods allow you to precisely administer Sterowash solution to clean hard-to-reach wounds. They can even act as eyewash pods for your pets.

In fact, if you’re a pet owner or source supplies for a veterinary clinic or animal care, our sterile saline solution can be used as an eyewash for dogs and other animals. Sterowash solution is a dog-safe eyewash.

Our eyewash plate and eyecare kit come with a mirror to help you locate a foreign body in the eye and self-administer an eyewash. They also come with eyewash instructions to refer to.

All our eye first aid kits and eyewash stations are made with lightweight materials and come with pre-drilled holes to help you install them on your premises.

What business owners need to know about eye first aid

Under the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981, all businesses must provide access to first aid supplies for the risks employees are exposed to on their premises. If your workforce is at risk of an eye-related injury, you must provide access to an eyewash station and eyewash supplies by law.

The HSE eyewash standard is stated as:

"If mains tap water is not readily available for eye irritation, at least a litre of sterile water or saline (0.9% w/v) in sealed, disposable containers should be provided. Once the seal has been broken, the containers should not be kept for reuse."

Your eyewash station must be installed a maximum of 10 seconds walking distance from the eye injury hazard zone. This is because it takes very little time for a contaminant to injure the eye, and the eye injury can be exacerbated every second it is not being treated.

Corrosive chemicals will burn on contact. A tiny shard of glass can move across the cornea under the eyelid and cause abrasions or become embedded. The quicker you can treat an eye injury, the more chance the casualty has of recovering fully and the less chance they have of damaged sight.

The best way to prevent and minimise eye injury is with a saline eyewash. Sterile eyewash solution dilutes and washes away harmful chemicals, loosens and sweeps out foreign bodies, and disinfects open wounds of potential infection-causing bacteria.
